Flat Weld Flange

A flat weld flange is a type of flange that is joined to a vessel or pipe by a fillet weld. It is an arbitrary flange. Flat welded flanges are widely used in the connection of medium and low pressure vessels and pipes.

Flat welding flanges is divided into two types: neck and no neck. Compared with butt-welded flange with neck, the flat-welded flange has a simple structure and less material, but its rigidity and sealing property are not as good as that of butt-welded flange with neck.


Working pressure: PN0.25MPa, PN0.6MPa, PN1.0MPa, PN1.6MPa, PN2.5MPa, PN4.0MPa

Product category: Full-flat plate flange (FF), protruding surface plate flange (RF)

Manufacturing materials: stainless steel (304, 316, etc.), carbon steel (20# 25#, etc.)

Connection form: single-sided welding, double-sided nut connection.

Product features: beautiful appearance, smooth surface, acid and alkali resistance, anti-corrosion, strong texture performance. 

Flat welding flange is suitable for steel pipe connection with nominal pressure not exceeding 2.5MPa.

Flat welding flanges include plate flat welded flanges and neck flat welded flanges.

Plate type flat welding flange (PL)

Advantages: This kind of flange is convenient to take, simple to manufacture, low in cost and widely used.

Disadvantages: Poor rigidity, easy to cause deformation of the flange surface during welding, even under the force of the bolt, the flange will be deformed, causing the corner of the sealing surface to cause leakage, so the flange is generally used for pipes with lower pressure and temperature. It shall not be used in chemical process piping systems with supply, demand, flammability, explosive and high vacuum requirements.

The sealing surface is in the form of a flat surface and a convex surface.

Neck flat welding flange

Advantages: The neck of the flat welded flange has a low neck height, which improves the rigidity and load carrying capacity of the flange. It is easy to install on site, and the process of welding seams can be omitted.

Disadvantages: Compared with the butt welding flange, the welding work is large, the welding rod is high, and it cannot withstand high temperature and high pressure and repeated bending and temperature fluctuation.

The nominal pressure rating of the neck flat welded flange is wide from low to high. It is suitable for the use of flat welded flanges in the past, but should not be used on pipes with frequent large temperature cycles.
