Welding Deformation Control In Stainless Steel Tank Fabrication

Apr 25, 2019 Leave a message

In the production of stainless steel tanks, welding is a very important step, which is related to the quality of the products and the use effect of the tanks.

The biggest difficulty in the construction of stainless steel tanks is the control of welding deformation. During the construction of storage tanks, due to the precision of prefabrication, assembly errors and thermal expansion and contraction during welding, the storage tanks will produce different degrees of deformation. Welding deformation is caused by the shrinkage and bending of the weld caused by the rapid expansion of the weld seam heated by high temperature and then cooling.

The welding deformation of stainless steel tank can be controlled by small wire energy welding, reasonable welding sequence, the principle of reverse deformation, a rigid fixture of fixture and hammering welding seam with a small hammer after welding.

In the manufacture of stainless steel storage tanks, it is necessary to ensure the removal of all kinds of contamination that may cause carburization of weld metal before welding.

The surface of 20mm (including groove) on both sides of the welded parts to be welded should be thoroughly cleaned, and there should be no grease, stain, paint marking, oxide scale, and other impurities. Usually, acetone or alcohol is used for scrubbing, and grinding is necessary first. If the cleaning is not clean, these organic substances will decompose and burn into gas under the action of high-temperature arc, which will cause gas holes and carbon increase in the weld metal, and then reduce the corrosion resistance of welded joints.
